Hi I’m Phoebe!
I started dancing when I was three years old and have been pretty much obsessed with it ever since! I grew up in the competitive dance world, training in jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, hip-hop, lyrical and musical theatre. After years of competing and performing, I found just as much joy in teaching and choreographing students of all ages and levels. I attended UW-Madison for both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work. Along the way, I discovered Barrio! I’ve loved having a space where I can continue training and growing as a dancer. Being surrounded by such talented and inspiring teachers at Barrio has pushed me to keep learning and has reminded me how much I love being a student too.
I teach choreography and contemporary and in my classes you can expect lots of energy, personalized feedback, and plenty of laughs! I love helping dancers understand not just what they’re doing, but why they’re doing it. I’m always happy to answer questions, break down movement or skills, and find modifications when needed so that my choreography feels comfortable, successful, and natural for each individual body. My biggest goal is for dancers to leave class feeling like they learned something new, challenged themselves, and had a really fun time doing it!
Fun Fact: I once gave myself a concussion from kicking myself in the head!
